Skibby atelier
Skibby Atelier is a small, breathable structure shaped by a clear and simple constructive logic. Lightly anchored to the terrain on a screw foundation, it hovers just above the ground, allowing the landscape to flow beneath it. The building is composed of natural materials throughout, with wood fibre insulation and breathable layers that support a healthy indoor climate and a quiet dialogue between inside and out.
The atelier consists of two contrasting cores:
The insulated northern core works as an intimate, calm workspace inspired by monastic contemplation, lit only by a skylight and a few small windows.
The uninsulated southern core works as a light, pavilion like structure with exposed construction, large openings, and generous ceiling height, created for flexible work and abundant daylight.
Between the two spaces, a sensory journey unfolds through shifts in light, temperature and spatial character, culminating at the terrace where the roof lifts upward. From the outside, the building appears as a simple, homogeneous rectangle clad in vertical timber boards that conceal the internal layers and contrasts.
